As a people of God, we need to live according to God’s Word. It is not enough to just hear the Word, but we must apply the Word to our lives and follow His commandments: “Love the Lord thy God with all our hearts, souls, and minds. Love thy neighbor as thyself.” The Word gives us instructions for daily living. It is not enough just to memorize the words, but we must apply them to our lives each day. We can never go wrong when we follow the Word of the Lord. “In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy path.” The Word of God is a pathway for right and holy living. Thank God, today, for His Word! In Psalm 119:37,we find these words:

“Turn my eyes from worthless things and give me life through your word.”

The psalmist speaks to the Lord from his heart. He is mindful of the power of the Word. He says, “Teach me your decrees O Lord; I will keep them to the end. Give me understanding and I will obey your instructions; I will put them into practice with all my heart. Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found.” The psalmist is eager to live by God’s Word. He is filled with gratitude and thanksgiving, for he knows that the Lord has plans for his life. He asks the Lord to teach him and guide him that he might meditate upon His Word. When you get a chance, read this entire chapter. Make an effort every day to live by the Word of God. When we live according to His Word, we will live a life that is fruitful, meaningful, and one that gives glory and honor to God.
