LIVE A HUMBLE LIFE
Believers must live with humility. We cannot become proud or arrogant and think we are better than others are. Thanks be unto God that today we have been saved by His grace. Our works have not saved us. I would argue strongly that far too many believers have lost the ability to touch people where they are. We cannot distance ourselves from one another, but we must be able to mingle with those who perhaps have not yet accepted Christ. We need to live ordinary lives and have relationships with ordinary people. The scripture reference today is Romans 12:16 and reads in this manner:
“Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!”
These are powerful words. Paul, the humble servant of the Lord, writes in chapter twelve about living as a sacrifice to God. He urges us not to pretend to love others but really love them. Hate what is wrong and hold tight onto what is good. In verse 16, he writes about not being too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. Paul writes, “Don’t think that you know it all.” When you get a chance, read this entire chapter. No one knows everything. We can learn something from everybody and must remain open to have relationships with everybody. We need to fellowship with those of all walks of life. It is not about us. I wish I could underline that a thousand times. We are not that important. The important one is God. Consequently, we need to represent God in all that we say and do.
