Believers are called to let our lights shine.  We are summoned by God to let the light shine brightly not dim, so that others may see Christ in us. Let me put a disclaimer here. Our lights should not shine so that the spotlight is on us. The sad commentary comes from the fact that there are men who shine the light on themselves or put their lights under a bushel where no one can see. Yet, God has given a mandate to us to shine as the light of the world. We are called upon to radiate the light of Jesus. In Matthew 5:16 we read of this light:

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

In this moving passage, Jesus, the Master Teacher speaks of the need for our lights to shine bright, that God will get the glory. Jesus called upon His followers to have their lights shine bright that all might see it. This is our vocation, our call, our commission, our responsibility that our lights might shine and others may see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven. It is a light that reflects the love of Jesus. It is a light of faith and of love. We know that Jesus is the Light of the World. Consequently, He calls on His followers to be that light. Prayerfully, your light shines bright. Once we walked in darkness, but we have seen a great light. Let God’s light shine on you. Let others see that you have been with Him and He has been with you. Live a life so that others are drawn to Jesus. As the song says, “This little light of mine I’m going to let it shine everywhere I go.”
