Faith is the substance of things hoped for and not seen. As God’s people, we walk by faith and not by sight. Although we cannot always see, we trust God who sees the way. We cannot say we love God and not trust Him. His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts. We do know that when we look to God, He is able to meet our every need. When we pray, we pray with faith and trust in God. We do not use expressions like “I think” or “I know.” Faith allows us to say we know what is true. Without faith, we cannot please God. Today’s scripture is Hebrews 11:6.

“And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him.”

In this moving passage, the writer indicates the difficulty with pleasing God without faith. He is clear that as one draws to God, he or she must believe in Him and must diligently seek Him. True faith is marked by expectancy. True faith is demonstrated by believing and trusting in God, even though you may not ultimately know all of the events that will follow. Faith has a powerful strength that we need.  Throughout this chapter, the writer speaks of those who trust God and how God blessed them. What looked impossible to these servants of God, God made possible.  Read about Abel, Enoch and those who trusted God and the results that followed. Add your name as you put your faith in God. I can add my name and I know I am not alone. When I put my faith in God, He blesses me. I also know that I cannot serve Him without putting my faith and trust in Him. He knows the way I take, and I am confident that He will lead me in that way.
