It is imperative for believers to live a holy and acceptable life unto God. Living a life for Christ requires transformation by the renewing of our minds. Not only do our minds need changing, but our heart as well. We cannot do everything the world does and claim to be children of God. There is a standard of living that we are compelled to live up to. This does not imply that we are perfect; it means we strive each day to be like Christ. Today’s devotion focuses upon how we ought to live our daily lives and is in Colossians 3:13:

“Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.”

The Apostle Paul writes about living a new life. He is deeply concerned that his fellow believers have committed themselves to live a life worthy unto God, which is their reasonable service. Throughout this chapter, he advises them to put away sinful behaviors of greed and anger. He admonishes them to put on their new nature and to be renewed, living in peace with one another. He wants them to forgive one another, clothe themselves in love living in harmony with one another. He wants them to live fruitful lives. He wants the Word of God to dwell in them richly that they might offer God praises. Christian living is a growth process. We have a standard before us. Let us strive each day to live a life that honors God.
