KINGDOM GREATNESS

Whenever I am away on vacation, I visit different churches. I look forward to my visit to Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, which is my home church, and Mt. Airy Church of God in Christ (COGIC). I visited Mt. Airy COGIC a few years ago, where I was fascinated by the deep and profound message preached by the pastor, Reverend Dr. J. Louis Felton, about A Kingdom Agenda. Kingdom living is crucial in our walk with God, and the Bible has much to say about Kingdom greatness. In Luke 22:27 we find these words:

“‘Who is more important, the one who sits at the table or the one who serves? The one who sits at the table, of course. But not here! For I am among you as one who serves’.

Luke records powerful words spoken by the Master. In verse 26, we see emphasis on leaders being servants. The discussion about who is the greatest was an ongoing debate, but the Lord settled it by emphasizing the one who serves. That should be our agenda — to serve God and His people, not to seek titles or recognition. Simply, we demonstrate our love of God by serving others. Prayerfully, we have all already discovered true Kingdom greatness and we are indeed one of those who can be counted on to serve.
