Keep Your Eyes on the Lord
It is vital that we always keep our eves on the Lord, for if we are not careful, we will lose our focus and look at things that are meaningless and worthless. It is so easy to be distracted and lose our way. The reality comes out of the fact that some things look good from afar, but they will cause our downfall. The psalmist knew the importance of always having his eyes set upon the Lord and he writes these words in Psalm 119:37:
“Turn my eyes from worthless things, and give me life through your word.”
As the psalmist meditates upon the Lord, he seeks God’s presence and asks the Lord for guidance. He recognizes his vulnerability so he pleads with the Lord that he might turn his eyes from vanity. The psalmist desires to serve the Lord with his whole heart and not allow the things of the world get in his way. If we are really sincere about keeping our eyes on the Lord; then we need to go to God in prayer and ask Him for wisdom and guidance that He might direct our paths. Surely, He is able to answer our prayer. May you be strengthened today as you look to the hills from whence cometh your help, knowing that all of your help cometh from the Lord.
