There is a blessing in just listening to God. Far too many times, we fail to listen to Him, and we listen to other voices. The tragedy is that we do ourselves a great injustice when we heed the call of ungodly voices. We pay a heavy         price when we fail to listen to God. We must not only listen with our ears, but with our hearts. We can never go wrong when we listen to the Lord. The scripture reference today is from Proverbs 8:34, and the New Living Translation reads in this manner.

 “Joyful are those who listen to Me, watching for Me daily at my gates, waiting for Me outside my home!”

In this deep and moving passage of scripture, the writer of this wisdom literature acknowledges the joy that comes to those who listen to the Lord. Throughout this chapter, he encourages us to listen to the Lord. We read in verses 32 and 33, “And so, my children, listen to me, for all who follow my ways are joyful. Listen to my instruction and be wise. Don’t ignore it.” When you get a chance read all of chapter eight. Prayerfully, it will cause you to listen more intently to the Lord and to follow His instructions. Keep listening to the Lord daily, in order that you might live a fruitful and meaningful life.
