JOY IN MY HEART
There is no joy like the joy of the Lord. The joy of this world may give us temporary pleasure but it cannot compare to the joy that the Lord gives. For the joy of the Lord is our strength. The Lord’s joy will give us peace in the midst of the storm. The Lord’s joy will cause us to have restful nights, when we believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that He is watching over us. Yes, the Lord’s joy even gives us joy in the midst of all life’s trials and troubles. The scripture reference for this devotion, “Joy In My Heart” is Psalm 4:7.
“You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine.”
The psalmist declares from his heart that the Lord’s joy has given him abundant harvests. He is able to have peace at night and can sleep with the assurance, saying, “You, O Lord, will keep me safe.” He begins this psalm by calling on the name of the Lord. The psalmist wants to remain true to God and offer sacrifices in the right spirit. He is not free from trouble, but the joy in his heart allows him to have all the strength that he needs. Prayerfully, you have the joy of the Lord in your heart, and you know that the Lord is with you every step of the way.
