One of life’s great blessings is knowing that Jesus prays for us. Our Lord remembers us in prayer. This fact is deep and profound. We are grateful for the prayers of our parents who prayed for us. Their prayers have been a blessing. Take a moment to think about our Lord lifting us up in prayer. In today’s devotion we see how the Lord prays for those He loves. The scripture in John 17:9 reads in this manner:

“I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are Thine.”

John, the gospel writer, shares the prayer the Lord prayed for His disciples. It is a prayer of gratitude and thanksgiving that He offers on their behalf. Throughout the prayer, He speaks of the disciples as gifts of God to Him. He repeatedly acknowledges God blessing Him with these disciples. His love and loyalty are rich. His prayer includes those who offer themselves as Disciples of Christ. What a gift! What a blessing! It is a prayer of providence and protection. May we keep in our minds and hearts that we have been prayed for by the Lord, Himself.
