It is amazing the way Jesus describes Himself. He says in John 14:6, “I am the way the truth and the life.” Today, we read His self-description as The Door. One thing about it, whenever we turn to Him we will always find Him available. He never shuts His door, it is always open. In John 10:9, we find these words:

“’Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.“

It is through Christ that one enters into the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:6) and gains the joy of the Lord. The figure of a door is worth concentrating on. Christ uses it as an absolute way. The door is an entrance, a way in. In John’s gospel, Christ says, in verse 10, that the thief comes not simply to steal or kill, but to destroy. Christ has come so that we may have life more abundantly. Thanks be unto God for the open door. Prayerfully, we have entered that door and have found salvation. Jesus is Our Door.
