In Love with Jesus
A few years ago, on our Church Without Walls prayer service, one of the callers indicated that falling in love with Jesus was the best choice she ever made. I have not stopped thinking about that. We have not chosen Him, He chose us; but we can choose how we will respond when He calls. I must admit that of all the choices I’ve made, falling in love with Jesus is the best thing I’ve ever done. In Luke 23:26, we find these words:
“As they led Jesus away, a man named Simon, who was from Cyrene, happened to be coming in from the countryside. The soldiers seized him and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus.”
It was customary in Rome for a condemned criminal to carry the cross to which their arms would be affixed. Simon Cyrene was forced to carry the cross for Jesus by the Roman soldiers; however, in reading this chapter, one comes to understand that his heart was touched. Think about how Jesus bore our sins to demonstrate His love for us. Prayerfully, we are all in love with Jesus, and He can count on us to follow Him every day of our lives.
