It is amazing how we sometimes thirst for God, because of the problems in life that drain us. We are aware that only He can satisfy our thirsts. There are other times, however, when we are hungry for God. We may have an abundance of food in our refrigerator to eat, but that does not fully satisfy us. No matter how much food is on the table, we have no appetite. Instead, we have a hunger for God, and we know that only He can satisfy the hungry soul. Let me also say that if you have never been thirsty or hungry for God – keep on living! The time will come when you will need Him to fill you. The scripture lesson, Isaiah 26:9 speaks of one who is hungry for God.

“In the night I search for You; in the morning I earnestly seek You. For only when You come to judge the earth will people learn what is right.” The Prophet Isaiah had a deep longing in his soul. He yearned throughout the night and prayed from the depths of his heart. Isaiah was seeking God by crying out in pain and agony. He needed Yahweh to fill him. His soul was cast down and he was in deep trouble. He knew that the power he needed was in God’s hands. As I conclude this devotion, I leave you with these words “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good.” There is no want in Him. When your soul becomes hungry, turn to God.
