HOW LONG WILL YOUR PRAISE LAST?
On this Palm Sunday, many of us will gather for worship. We will receive palm branches, and prayerfully we will give God praise. But the question I pose today is, “How long will your praise last?” Prayerfully, it is not just for today, but your praise will last every day and always. Every day is a day of thanksgiving where we should give praise, honor, and glory to God. There is a song that I love that simply says, “May my life praise you.” Prayerfully, that will become your song, too — that every day of your life you will give God praise, not simply with your words, but also with your deeds. In Luke 19:37 we find these words:
“When he reached the place where the road started down the Mount of Olives, all of his followers began to shout and sing as they walked along, praising God for all the wonderful miracles they had seen.”
In this familiar story, we see that the people’s praises for Jesus did not last long. Even though they shouted in verse 38, “Blessings on the King who comes in the name of the Lord!” we see that in a few days the same people who shouted praises unto God will shout “Crucify Him!” in Luke 23:21. When you get a chance, read this entire story. Prayerfully, our praise will not be short-lived, but we will praise the Lord each and every day!
