HONOR MOTHERS – MOTHER’S DAY
On this Mother’s Day, we take the time to honor mothers. Mothers are gifts from God and are to be respected and honored every day. We are to give them their roses while they can smell them. We are to show our gratitude for the ways and sacrifices they make to love and care for us. Their sacrifices are too numerous to record. Nothing can compare to a godly mother who gets up early in the morning and works throughout the day to care for the children that God has blessed her with. So today, we honor mothers who are single, divorced, widowed, or have become an adoptive parent who provides love and care for special needs children. We honor God for all of them. God has called us to bless them. In Proverbs 31:28, we find these words.
“Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her.”
In this moving passage, we read of the Virtuous Woman. The writer of this wisdom literature speaks glowing words about this woman of God. She is clothed with strength and dignity and laughs without fear of the future. She gives instruction with kindness and speaks kind words. She suffers nothing from laziness. Her children are recipients of her blessings. Her husband honors God for her. Today, take the time to give God thanks for His gift of mothers. Perhaps your mother has gone home to glory. Give God thanks. Do not allow this or any day to pass, and you not give God thanks for the gift of motherhood. Thank God for the memories, for the richness of their lives. I conclude this devotion by saying, “God bless all mothers today. Thank you for all that you continually do, giving God praise and raising your children with the love of the Lord.”
