HOLD ON TO HOPE

No matter what life brings our way we need to always hold on to hope. Hope in God, putting our trust in God, knowing that God is sufficient to meet our every need. Whatever you do, don’t lose hope. A songwriter once said, “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.” When we put our hope in Christ Jesus everything will turn out all right. I remember the words of the Rev. Dr. Joe Ratliff, the Rabbi priest who was here at here at Bethlehem some years ago, when he simply said, “However it turns out is going to turn out all right.” That is so true. All things work together for good for them that love the Lord. Not everything may be good but God can turn it around and make something good out of it.
Our Scripture lesson today is Romans 15:13 and we find these words:

“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”

In this Scripture, the writer praises God, the source of all hope. He wants them to trust and rely upon God, encouraging them to live together in harmony so they might experience the abundance of power that is felt when one puts their hope and trust in God. Prayerfully today, you are able to say I trust in the Lord; my hope is in Him.
