As believers, God calls us to hold fast to our faith. We are encouraged to do what
is good and to abstain from all forms of evil. If we say that we are walking with Christ, then our lives should show evidence that Christ is in us. We cannot do or say everything that comes to our mind, but rather we must always be spirit-led. We find a blueprint for how to conduct ourselves in the book of 1 Thessalonians. In 1 Thessalonians 5:21, we find these words:
“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”
Paul goes to great lengths to remind believers what is needed for them to stay in the spirit. In fact, he even tells us in verse 19 not to quench the Spirit. When we have tested and proved every utterance, we should hold fast to what is good and excellent. Read this entire chapter. It will help us to grow in faith in our day-to-day living. May we be strengthened by God’s Word today. Always hold fast to what is honorable, right and good according to His Word.
