This has been an unbelievable year. The Coronavirus has taken its toll on so many people. This has been compounded by the killings of George Floyd and other African Americans, and the destruction of homes and properties because of looting. Yet, God has remained faithful. No one in his or her wildest dreams would have envisioned a year like 2020. Furthermore, we are not out of the woods yet. It is vitally, crucial that we hold fast to our faith. We cannot waver or retreat. Our dependence must always be on God. Many believers have fallen by the wayside. But the blessing comes from the fact that we can regroup and get back in the race. The race is not given to the swift, but to those who endure to the end. This is a long tedious journey and we must remain faithful. Read Hebrews 10:23 that speaks of our faith:

“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise.”

In this deep and moving passage, Paul gives words of encouragement to the people that he loves. In verse 22, he speaks of the need to draw near to God with a true heart. He wants them to hold tightly to God’s victorious hand. He does not want the people to lose heart. He makes it clear that God is faithful and will bring to bear what He has promised. Paul does not want them to wander out of God’s will. He does not want them to be discouraged. He knows that what God has promised, He will deliver for He is a God of truth. Paul knows that they could easily slip and slide, stumble, and fall. Therefore, he encourages them just to remain faithful. My heart’s desire is that every reader remains faithful to a faithful, dependable, and reliable God. He will not fail. May we not fail either.
