On Sunday October 23rd, we celebrated how God blessed Bethlehem Baptist Church at our 134th anniversary. As the eighth pastor, I am grateful for the nineteen founders of Bethlehem, those faithful servants, who stood and declared the Word of God in forming this church. I am grateful that God has kept this church and this congregation. The history of Bethlehem includes that we have been bombed and also relocated, yet we still stand. Bethlehem Baptist Church, the House of Bread, acknowledges the power and sovereignty of God. We have not been kept because of gifted pastors and preachers, but only because of God’s grace. Pastors come and go, but God’s Word and power never changes. Although, I celebrated 36 years as Pastor, it is God alone who reigns! In Isaiah 51:1 we find these words:

“Listen to me, all who hope for deliverance — all who seek the Lord! Consider the rock from which you were cut, the quarry from which you were mined.”

Isaiah is telling the people to follow righteousness. He wants the people to hear the voice of the Lord and encourages them to continue trusting in God. Isaiah prays for their strength and tells them to look at their ancestors to see how God blessed them throughout the years. God has a rich history of not only giving strength to the congregations, but to us as a people, as well. From generation to generation, He has blessed us. When you get a chance, read this entire chapter. I am confident that God will continue to bless His church. Remember your history, and be assured that your future is all in God’s hands.
