It is essential that we keep the Word of the Lord hidden in our heart. Every day we face one temptation or another.  We also face adversity and we need to know beyond a shadow of a doubt the power of the Word. If we do not grab hold of His Word, we will succumb to those temptations and trials.  The Word of God gives us strength.  We are able to draw upon them in times of need.  His words are sealed in the depths of our heart and even when the enemy comes against us, we are able to pull on the Word.  It may be hidden from those who come up against us, but it is the inner strength that we so sorely need.  The psalmist in Psalm 119:11 speaks about this hidden word in his heart.  The verse reads:

“I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”

The psalmist is a man of deep conviction, but he also recognizes his vulnerability.  He is honest as he prays for guidance and instructions.  In verse ten, he pleads with the Lord that he might not wander from his convictions.  He wants to remain true to his God and stay in the Word so that he might not sin against God.  The psalmist is conscious of the temptation that is all around him. He is aware of the pitfalls, but he seeks the power of God coming from the Word of God.  It is my prayer today that you will hide the Word in your heart that you might stand when everything around you is falling apart, and you will not sin against God.  Be strong and meditate on Him day and night. May that be our testimony today.
