Every morning, I close out the Church Without Walls by encouraging God’s people to help somebody, to be a blessing to somebody, to share with somebody and to forgive somebody. Each day gives us an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life. God has not blessed us to keep our blessings to ourselves. When He blesses us, He expects us to bless someone else. To whom much is given, much is required. It is not how much we have; it is what we do with what we have. We cannot use the excuse that we don’t’ have much. God has given us all something to bless others with. It is never about us, but God and His people. A powerful song says, “If I can help somebody along the way then my living will not be in vain.” Today’s scripture reference is John 3:17.
“If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?”
These are powerful words. The writer calls upon us to love one another. That love also has to be demonstrated by our actions, which will indicate that we stand for God. There is no place in the hearts of God’s people for being selfish. This entire chapter speaks of the love of God, and how God expects us to love others. There are powerful words in this chapter that are convicting. The question is, how can you love God whom you have not seen and not love others you see around you? Love is an action word. So simply, help somebody. Read this entire chapter and take inventory of your life. Let me add, do not just help your family as you should, but help your neighbor, co-worker, and others in need. Countless people depend upon our help and God has given us the ability to help somebody in need.
