Faith is a vital part to hearing the Word of God.  When we gather for worship each Sunday and the  Word of God is preached, we will not be able to comprehend what we hear if our faith is not active. Faith brings practical application to the Word of God; it is a gift from God. Without faith it is impossible to please God.  Regardless of how well the preacher may preach, unless the hearers of the Word open their hearts and minds and hear what is shared the Word will never take effect. But we must have faith.  In Romans 10:17, we find these words:

“So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.”

Preachers have been preaching from the depths of their hearts for centuries, but the tragedy comes when we pick and choose what we want to hear, never allowing our faith to take us to a higher level.  It is my prayer today that we have faith, and not only are we hearers of the Word, but we are also doers of the Word. (James 1:22-25).
