As a nation, we are much divided. We often say, “one nation under God.” However, in many ways it is far from the truth. It is something we say, but we do not practice. We are divided along political, racial, and economic lines. The list of divisions is numerous. We need healing in the land. Yet, there is a prerequisite in order for healing to take place. In 2 Chronicles 7:14, we find these words:

Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.

The Lord gives instructions on how we are to receive that healing. We need to humble ourselves, pray, and seek God’s face. Then, we will receive God’s mercy and favor. The writer of this deep and profound chapter makes it clear that we will hear from heaven when we turn from our wicked ways. The Lord will heal our land and forgive our sins. Yahweh, our Great God, will bless us when we turn our face toward Him. I ask that you join me in prayer as we pray for our nation. Let us pray for our President, members of the Congress, members of the Senate, governors, mayors, and all of our political leaders. Let us ask God for His mercy. He will hear us when we humble ourselves and pray, and He will heal the land.
