Today’s devotion is one that all of us should pay attention to. When the truth is told, there are many who believe that they have found all the answers in life themselves. They claim to know what is best for them. However, I would argue strongly that only God knows what is best for us. Some of the choices that we have made, and thought were good have resulted in disappointment and heartache. The late Frank Sinatra sang, “I did it my way.” However, God knows the plans for us and is able to grant to us a blessed life. God needs to be first to guide and direct us. The Word of God is clear in Matthew 6:33:

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

We read of the priority in the Kingdom. Seek His righteousness and all things will be added unto you. The selfish drive for worldly goods is temporary. Worldly goods will not last and personal power soon fades out. Yet, Matthew, the gospel writer, pens these words of the need to seek Kingdom priorities. He knows beyond any doubt that God has the power we need and knows what is best for us. In verse thirty-four, we find these words, “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” Take one day at a time! Tomorrow will bring troubles of its own. Live each day to the glory of God. Follow the Lord’s instructions for He knows the way we take.
