HAVE COURAGE

I am blessed to have a new administrative assistant, Antoinette Williams, who helped with this devotion.  Anything that we do requires faith and courage for there are a lot of unknowns in every aspect of life. We trust God and have the courage to go into deep waters. Let me be as transparent as possible —many of us have missed opportunities in life due to the fact that we had a lack of courage because we didn’t trust God.  There will be challenges throughout our lives, but with God, all things are possible. In Matthew 14:27, we find these words:

“But Jesus spoke to them at once. ‘Don’t be afraid,’ he said. ‘Take courage. I am here!”

In this familiar story, as recanted in verses 24 – 33, we see that Jesus walked on water. The disciples were far out to sea, when a strong wind came, causing them to have to battle high and heavy waves.  When the disciples saw Jesus walking on the water towards them, they became fearful, thinking He was a ghost. Jesus said to them, “Don’t be afraid.  Take courage, I am here.” Peter started walking on the water to meet Jesus, but when the waves came, Peter became fearful, causing that the Master had to grab him to prevent him from drowning. But at least Peter had the courage to try. Will we have the courage to trust God to try something new? Prayerfully the answer is “yes.”
