HAPPY IS THE LORD
To say that I am happy in the Lord does not truly express the true feelings in my heart. There is no way to explain the blessings that flow in my heart as I reflect upon the goodness of the Lord. My soul is happy, for I have found the strength and peace that only God can give. I have experienced temporary happy moments in my life with my family and friends. I have shared many happy occasions: wedding anniversaries and family reunions. The happiness the Lord gives is not limited to an event or celebration. It flows from the heart of God into my heart. I can be happy even when things are going in different directions. Even when things are falling apart, I can still have the happiness of the Lord. The Lord’s happiness causes me to praise Him. I am able to praise Him in both good and tough times. So, I pose this question, “Are you happy in the Lord today? Psalm 32:1 is our scripture reference and speaks of happiness and joy.
“Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight!”
The psalmist writes these deep and profound words that express happiness; our sins are forgiven. Not only are they forgiven, they are put out of sight to be remembered no more. Our disobedience is covered by His mercy. Our sins no longer enslave us, for we have been set free by God’s hand. He has taken our guilt and shame away. The psalmist can walk with his head high. We, also, can walk this way knowing that the Lord gives favor that causes us to be joyful and happy. For those of us who have experienced God’s forgiveness, there is nothing to compare it to. The psalmist sang, “I sing because I’m happy. I sing because I am free. His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.”
