I had to take a deep look at the title of this devotion. In my humble opinion, it has much depth at a time when we are not able to hang out with families and friends like those that we are used to. We feel isolated and alone. It is good to hang out with God. The Coronavirus has strained many relationships due to social distancing and not seeing or embracing one another at times. I remember when I went to Barnes and Noble to get a cup of coffee and read a book. I miss that. However, I have learned the value of just hanging out with God. John 15:7 is our devotional text today.

“But if you remain in Me and My words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!”

Jesus, the Master Teacher makes it clear that if you abide in Him and His words abide in us, we may ask, and it shall be done unto us. This is a union with Christ. It speaks of His love that embraces us. In this chapter, he references the vine and the branches. He is the Vine and we are the branches. Without Him we can do nothing, with Him we can do all things. When we are connected to Him, we have power from on high. In other words, when we are hooked up with Him, we can draw from His divine power. That is why it is so important to hang out with Him. We are recipients of the blessings that He so willingly shares with us. Who do you spend time fellowshipping with? Who encourages you? Who gives you peace and joy? There are countless reasons to stay close to God. The message is simply hang out with God.
