Guard our Hearts
The heart is the center of our being. The Word says in Luke 12:34, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Out of our heart flows our entire being. Not just our physical being, but also our mental and emotional being. Some of us are well physically, but our hearts are in need of repair. We need Jesus to heal and mend our broken, mean-spirited hearts. In Proverbs 4:23, we find these words:
“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”
We need to guard our hearts with all vigilance, for from them flow the springs of life. It is interesting that the brain is not mentioned in the Old Testament, but the heart is mentioned more than once. The psalmist writes about the need to guard our hearts from bitterness, and to keep our hearts pure so that they will not become contaminated with sin or evil. It is my fervent prayer today that we will guard our hearts. If we want to live a whole and healthy life, we must protect our hearts. The heart that is guarded is a heart full of love, compassion, and empathy. May we all have the heart of God.
