GROWING IN THE LORD

It is so important that we grow in the Lord. This matter of serving the Lord by giving one’s life to the Lord is an ongoing process. Unfortunately, I find that many people have not made an attempt to grow. They appear to be satisfied where they are, making no efforts to grow to be more like Christ in their daily walk. They do not appear to be asking God for more patience, or for more strength to grow so they might remain humble. No matter how much we have grown in the Lord, we still need more growth. None of us have arrived. We should all be striving to increase our faith in God. In 2 Peter 3:18, we find these words:

Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen.”

Peter is writing to his fellow believers, telling them that the day of the Lord is coming.  In his final words to them he says, “You already know these things, dear friends. So be on guard; then you will not be carried away by the errors of these wicked people and lose your own secure footing.”  He tells them that they have to get ready because the Lord is coming, and he wants them to be ready to receive the Lord. While they are waiting, he wants everyone to be found living peaceful lives, pure and blameless in His sight. He does not want them to go astray, and urges them to grow more, with God’s amazing grace, to have more knowledge of Jesus Christ that they might receive the Lord’s blessings. It is my prayer today that we may all grow in grace and knowledge, and that we will all strive each day to be more like Him.
