GOODNESS AND MERCY
There is a blessing that comes from reading God’s Word. Sometimes in our efforts to memorize scripture, it can become routine, and we can lose out on its full meaning. Many of us have recited the 23rd Psalm, over and over again. We have heard it numerous times, but it is always a blessing to take a fresh look at it. In reading the 23rd Psalm, we find that goodness and mercy will follow us all the days of our lives. Different versions of God’s Word may use different text, but the meaning is still the same. In Psalm 23:6, we find these words:
Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORD forever.
The psalmist makes it clear that the Lord’s goodness and mercy will last for the rest of his life, and he will live in the house of the Lord forever. The psalmist is thankful that the Lord has guided him. The Lord was with him, even when he faced his enemies. His heart is overflowing with joy. Reread the psalmist praise unto the Lord. Give God thanks for His goodness, His mercy, and His unfailing love.
