Good And Evil

I am always amazed at how people try to make evil good! We have gotten to the point where we can justify every sin. We have replaced adultery with the expression “having an affair,” like that makes it better. Then we say that we are “not hurting anybody else,” but how wrong we are. Instead of a “lie,” we say “untruth.” A lie is a lie. You may find that this devotion might be different from days past, however, I cannot write flowery words. I hope that these devotions not only inspire, but also convict. There is nothing good about evil! The Word of God is clear on this matter of evil. In fact, the Word of God warns us not to call evil, good. In Isaiah 5:20, we find these words:

What sorrow for those who say that evil is good and good is evil, that dark is light, and light is dark, that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter.

The prophet warns the people against their wrongdoings and implores them to draw near to God. Isaiah does not elaborate on all of their shortcomings, but clarifies what they need to do by turning toward God. He reminds them of what the Lord will do if they do not change from their sinful ways. Read this chapter and you will see how the Lord will respond if they do not change their ways. That same warning is given to us. God is not pleased with the evil deeds that we do. He wants us to choose that which is good for His glory and for His people. I pray that this is your choice.
