A Pure Heart
It is essential that our hearts are pure and clean whenever we come to serve the Lord. Our hearts cannot be filled with hate and discontent. We must have not only a clean heart, but also a right mind. We cannot serve the Lord unless we have had a heart transformation. In Isaiah 6:8, we read these words:
“Then I heard the LORD asking, ‘Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?’ I said, ‘Here I am. Send me.’”
In the previous verse, Isaiah makes it known that he had been touched by an angel. His guilt had been taken away and his sins forgiven. After that experience, the Lord spoke and Isaiah answered, saying, “Here am I; send me.” This encounter prepared him for the assignment. His heart had been changed, and he was now eager to proclaim the Word of the Lord. The song writer said, “Give me a clean heart, so I might serve Thee. Lord fix my heart, so that I may be used by thee.” That is my prayer today. We should all go to the Great Physician and ask Him for a pure, clean heart so that we will be able to serve Him.
