GOD’S WORD
God’s word gives us instructions for daily living. The Word of God is powerful; it is sharper than any two-edged sword. Let me be clear – we cannot simply be “hearers” of The Word, but we must also be “doers” of The Word. There is a vast difference between the two. We can go to Bible Study and study The Word, but if we don’t apply it to our lives, we miss out on the blessings. What good is it to quote scripture if we don’t live by the scripture? We must be willing to take The Word of God and place it in our hearts in an effort to live each day according to His Word. In Psalm 119:105, we find these words:
“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.”
In this Psalm comprised of 176 verses, the psalmist declares his love for the Lord’s instructions, saying he thinks of them all day long. He says that God’s laws and commandments have given him insight and they are his constant guide. He closes out this Psalm, in verse 176 by saying, “I have wandered away like a lost sheep; come and find me, for I have not forgotten your commands.” Even though his life has taken many turns, he still relies on God’s Word. Prayerfully, today, we are all relying on God’s Word, and His Word guides us every day!
