GOD’S RIGHTEOUS JUDGMENT
Unfortunately, some of us tend to pass judgment and make harsh comments about our brothers and sisters in Christ. At times, we fail to recognize that we all have faults, therefore we cannot afford to judge anyone. It is only the righteous God who can do the judging. Thanks be unto God that He does not judge us the way that we judge each other. In Romans 2:1, we find these words:
“You may think you can condemn such people, but you are just as bad, and you have no excuse! When you say they are wicked and should be punished, you are condemning yourself, for you who judge others do these very same things.”
Paul speaks about the need for righteousness which comes out of God’s forgiveness. In Paul’s view, encouraging others to engage in sin is worse than committing the sin. On the other hand, Paul recognizes none of us have the ability to judge, for we all stand in the need of God’s righteousness that covers our faults. Reading this chapter will help us to understand God’s standard of judgment which is based on truth rather than opinions used by man. Our standard of judgment of others will never pass the standards of God. He alone knows all the facts and He alone can pass righteous judgment. Before we judge anyone else we should make sure that we understand that we need the judgment our righteous God gives. Thank God today that His righteous judgment of us is completely different than the judgment we give to, or receive from, others.
