God knows every detail of our lives. He has a plan for us to do good and to live prosperously. We can plan, but God can rearrange our plans particularly when we make plans outside of His will. All things work together for good to them that love the Lord. At times, the things that might not appear to be good can ultimately be good because it may be part of God’s plan for us. So, once again, it is not where you start but where you finish that counts. Never throw in the towel. He is in control of our lives. Look back over your life. Some of the things that you thought were bad ultimately were for your good. We are not where we are by accident or chance but by God’s providential direction of our steps. I Chronicles 28:9 is our reference today.

“And Solomon, my son, learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and a willing mind. For the Lord sees every heart and knows every plan and thought. If you seek Him, you will find him. But if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.”

In this passage, David instructs Solomon his son. He wants Solomon to know God’s love for him. He knows God has mighty plans for Solomon and wants him to be serious about his commitment. David encourages him never to reject the Lord and to do the Lord’s work. We all need a mentor or coach to instruct us on how to live and respond to God. Our sons and daughters need to know that God has a plan for their lives, so that they will live according to God’s will. Our children are not ours, but gifts from God to us. We have a responsibility as David did, to share with them the plans and purposes God has for their lives. God has invested in us all. How we live that investment, is up to us. Thank God today that He has a plan for each of us. May we live according to His plans and purposes.
