It is amazing how God continues to bless us. He remembers the faithfulness that we have shown throughout our days. When others do not remember, God remembers. He remembers every need that we have, every act of love that we have shown, and every step of faith that we have taken. Sometimes we may feel that He has forgotten some of the ways we have tried to glorify Him. But, His memory is long: just as long as His love is for us. In Jeremiah 2:2, we find these words:

“Go and shout this message to Jerusalem. This is what the Lord says: ‘I remember how eager you were to please me as a young bride long ago, how you loved me and followed me even through the barren wilderness.’”

In the wilderness after the exodus, Israel’s early relationship with the Lord is remembered as pure and devoted like a bride with her groom. Israel was a nation set apart and chosen by God and was holy to the Lord,. Even though there were times when the people did not obey His commandments, the Lord did not forget His commitment and love for them. What a blessing to know that no matter what we may have done, God still loves us! He remembers us and provides for us. As the songwriter says, “He looks beyond our faults and sees our needs.”
