It is a marvelous blessing to gather in the sanctuary and praise God. To sing the hymn of the church, “Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah, Redeemer, Pilgrim through this barren land.” We need God’s guidance every day, for without Him we will go astray. We are blessed with the knowledge that God is our Guide, who leads us into green pastures and restores our soul. Thank Him, today, that His ever-present power guides us along life’s way. The scripture reference for this devotion is Psalm 48:14.

“For that is what God is like. He is our God forever and ever, and He will guide us until we die.

The psalmist declares the greatness of God. As pilgrims through the wilderness, God is there to guide His people. Throughout this psalm, he praises God for His guiding hand. As the pilgrims gather for worship in the temple, their hymns and praises are sung. They lift their hearts and thank God for His loving kindness and tender mercies. They are heard throughout the land. As they move about, the enemy is unable to harm them, for God is guiding them. When they return to their home, they can tell the next generation that this is the God until death. They declare, “Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised in the city of our God and the mountain of His holiness.” They know that they are safe in God’s hands. He is watching over them and guiding their every step. When we follow God’s guidance, we will never go wrong. He will lead us by His powerful Right Hand! What a mighty God we serve. All praise and glory belong to Him.
