As I write this devotion, once again I find myself being transparent. Every day I realize how loving and kind God is. He has washed all my sins away, never to be remembered again. I fully know that countless people will never forgive us when we sin. In fact, they remind us of what we used to do, particularly when we give our lives to Christ and serve Him. There are always those who hold our past over our head. However, we need not worry. God knows what we have done and yet, He has forgiven us. Consequently, we do not have to be holy and self-righteous for we are sinners saved by grace. Many have put sin in categories, but sin is sin and all have sinned and come short of His glory. There are no big sins. God is faithful to forgive all our sins. I John 1:9 is our text today.

“But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.”

In this deep passage, John writes that forgiveness is possible when we confess our sins. To say we have no sin is to deceive ourselves. God is faithful and we have assurance of forgiveness through His faithful love towards us. He will cleanse us of all unrighteousness: not some, but all. There is no need for us to say that we have no sin for that is untrue. Know that the blood of Jesus Christ has washed our sins away. Know that God is faithful and just and that His love and mercy cleanses us every day. We rejoice in the fact that our sins are wiped away and we can live a life pleasing unto God.
