GOD HAS NOT GIVEN US A SPIRIT OF FEAR
Our faith is strong. It is crucial to our walk with God. We cannot allow fear to overtake us. Fear will cripple us and we will be unable to move forward in life. I would argue strongly that far too many people in our world are paralyzed by fear. Consequently, they act out in ways that reveal anger and malice. We see that almost every day in our country. But, God’s children should remember that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of a sound mind. Our scripture reference is II Timothy 1:7 and reads in this manner.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”
Paul writes to Timothy, his son in the ministry to encourage him to be faithful. Paul tells him that he prays for him daily and longs to see him again. He indicates that he remembers the faith of Timothy that was established in him by his grandmother, Lois and his mother, Eunice. Paul wants Timothy to remain strong, courageous, have self-discipline, and not to be ashamed to tell others of the Lord. At the same time, he tells him not to be ashamed of Paul even though he is in prison. When you get a chance read this entire chapter. Prayerfully, you will be encouraged and will continue to walk by faith and not by fear.
