GOD FORGIVES
When we pray, we must first forgive anyone that we are holding a grudge against, so that our Father in Heaven will also forgive us. Every relationship needs to have forgiveness as an attribute — no true relationship can exist without forgiveness. Let me be transparent; I have been blessed to be married 40 years. I cannot count the times we have had to show forgiveness towards each other. It is important that we demonstrate our love for each other by the way we forgive. There can be no genuine love without forgiveness. On this day, as we observe Valentine’s Day, let us thank God for His love. God not only loves us, but He forgives us; therefore, we must have a willingness to forgive others. No candy, flower, or gift can take the place of a forgiving heart. In Mark 11:25, we find these words:
“’But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too’.”
Jesus is speaking to His disciples, telling them to pray for anything and they will receive it. He also tells them that when they are praying they must first forgive anyone they are holding a grudge against. Jesus knew the essence of real love was found in forgiveness. Thank God for His forgiveness! May we each learn to forgive others
