A few years ago, I went to the fiftieth reunion of my junior high school class.  I was glad to see so many of my former classmates.  We had a wonderful time reflecting upon those blessed days.  Life had taken us through many journeys.  As I gazed through the yearbook, I noted many of the students had been called home to glory, and some had fallen into the hands of sin.  I was asked to do a meditation.  The meditation was entitled “Give Thanks to the Lord”.  In that meditation, I talked about the Lord’s goodness through the years, and the many ways that God blessed me.  I acknowledged God’s goodness.  The words I spoke were taken from Psalm 107:1, which reads in the following manner:

“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.” Here the psalmist calls upon the people to give God praise.  It is a summons to thank the Lord for carrying the people through great hardships.  He acknowledges God’s goodness and His tender mercy throughout all generations. He goes on to say, “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy.” While at a reunion, I was on the dance floor taking the opportunity to acknowledge God’s goodness. For I believe with all my heart it does not matter where you are, a junior high reunion, graduation, wedding, or any other significant occasion, it is good to give thanks to the Lord
