GIVE GOD THANKS!
On this day of Thanksgiving, it is my fervent prayer that you will take time out to give God thanks. God is a giver of every good and perfect gift. He deserves our gratitude and praise. All that we have comes from God. I have said more than once that the giver of the gift deserves all our praise. We have so many reasons why we should give God thanks. He has blessed us to see another Thanksgiving, allowed us to have food on our table, has forgiven us of our sins, provided us a reasonable portion of health and strength, the list goes on and on. Take time now to say, “Thank you Lord. Thank you for a brand-new day. This is the day that you made, and we will rejoice and be glad in it!” In Psalm 31: 19, we find these words:
“How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world.”
The psalmist expresses his gratitude to God. He indicates that the Lord has been good because He has blessed him with a blessing of protection. He praised the Lord because God showed him the wonders of His unfailing love. He said, “He kept me safe when my city was under attack.” God heard his cry for help, and He answered him. Give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, His kindness, His love, and His tender mercy. Throughout this psalm the psalmist acknowledges that he has received God’s protection. The Lord is his rock, his fortress, and his strength. Prayerfully, we can all join the psalmist giving God thanks, for He is the true essence of Thanksgiving.
