All we know about God is that we love Him because He is our rock, a fortress in the time of trouble. He is our shield and our protector. There is nothing like knowing the Lord! Family members may know Him, but there is something special about knowing Him for yourself! We cannot do this thing called “life” without Him! Life is full of trials and troubles, and we need His hand of mercy with us every step of the way. When we know Him for ourselves, we can walk with faith and confidence knowing that no weapon formed against us shall prosper. When we know Him for ourselves, we can sing in the midnight hour, “I know the Lord will make a way somehow.” When we know Him for ourselves, we can talk to Him any time, knowing without a shadow of a doubt, that He is always there. In Proverbs 3:26, find these words:

“For the Lord is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap.”

The writer makes clear the need to trust in the Lord. He speaks repeatedly about wisdom, and he knows full well that the Lord is a source of security for the people. The psalmist says, “You can go to bed without fear; you will lie down and sleep soundly. You need not be afraid of sudden disaster or the destruction that comes upon the wicked, for the LORD is your security.” The Lord has the power to help you — all you have to do is trust Him. When you get a chance, read this entire chapter. Prayerfully, as you read this devotion, if you are not sure that you really know the Lord, take the time today to ask Him to make Himself known to you. Get to know Him! He is always there for each of us.
