We are living in stressful times. These are truly stressful days. The weight of stress can understandably wear anyone down. Dealing with the coronavirus has caused all of us to have a degree of anxiety and fear, especially when coupled with all of the social unrest in our country and layered on top of the many burdens, trials and troubles that come our way on a regular basis. I am often taken aback when hearing these words, “Too blessed to be stressed.” That sounds so good. However, in reality, those are only words. There is only one real way to get rid of stress. We cannot do it on our own. The scripture reference for this devotion is found in Matthew 11:28.

“Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.’”

Jesus, the Master Teacher, knew the burdens of this life would be too hard for his people to carry. So, He extended an invitation to them to come to Him. He promises to lighten our load. He says, “Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you because I am humble and gentle at heart. You will find rest for your soul. The burden I give you is light. He is a burden bearer who can lighten our load and free us from the stress of life. But we must be willing to bring it to Him. It is my fervent prayer today that you will take advantage of His invitation and give Him all your cares, concerns, and worries. He has never lost a case. He will truly give you rest for your soul.
