GET RID OF GUILT
I believe that today’s devotion speaks to every believer, because we all need to get rid of guilt. We should not live our lives thinking about what we did or did not do. It causes us to miss out on the blessings of forgiveness that God has granted us. All of us have sinned and come short of the glory of God, but when we accept Christ, he removes all of our sins and gives us a brand-new life. There is no need for us to beat ourselves up about past mistakes, nor should we allow others to constantly remind us of what we used to do. Guilt can rob us of the joys of life. Let God usher in a new life of fulfillment with peace and joy. In Romans 8:1, we find these words:
“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.”
Paul writes about the new life in the spirit. The blood of Jesus has cleansed us from all unrighteousness and has taken away our guilt and shame. That ought to cause somebody to shout right now! We have been set free! Who God sets free, is free indeed! We are free to live and to love. Most importantly, we are free to live a meaningful life without pain and shame. What a wonderful way to live – without the invisible chains of guilt that binds us! As the song writer said, “Jesus paid it all! All to Him I owe.” May we live each day to its fullest in the freedom that God has so graciously given unto us. Get rid of the guilt!
