The words of the song “I Am a Friend of God” come to mind, where the songwriter says, “Who am I that you are mindful of me, that you hear me when I call? Is it true that you are thinking of me? How you love me! It’s amazing!”   I am so glad that I know, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that I am a friend of God! God is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. What a blessing it is to be considered a friend of God! He is a friend that never fails! We can always count on Him, because He loves us unconditionally. In John 15:15, we find these words:

“I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are My friends, since I have told you everything the Father told Me.”

Jesus tells His disciples that the intimate friendship that they have allows them to draw upon His power and to find all that they need in Him. Because He is their friend, they can speak freely and frankly. We are able to have that same intimate relationship with God. The songwriter writes, “There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus, no not one, no not one.” Whatever you are going through today, know that there is a friend who is there for you.
