FREEDOM IN CHRIST

Jesus came that we may have life more abundantly. We have so much

freedom in Christ. Freedom in Christ does not mean we can do whatever we want to do, but freedom in Christ means He has liberated us from the heavy yoke of sin. The choir sings a song from time to time with the lyrics, “I am free, Praise the Lord, I’m free, No longer bound, No more chains holding me, My soul is resting,  It’s a blessing, Praise the Lord, Hallelujah, I’m free!”  We should rejoice over the freedom we have in Christ.  The burdens and cares of this life can wear us down. Sin and guilt can rob us
of the joy of life, but we are indeed free from the heavy penalty of sin. In Galatians 5:1, we find these words:

“So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.”

Paul makes it clear that freedom has come through the truth and knowledge in Jesus Christ. Paul knew we were justified by Christ. He tells the people to free themselves from the yoke of slavery. He knew
that no matter how hard we tried we could not fulfill every requirement of the law. It was grace that set us free. Paul was no longer a slave to sin but was indeed set free. “Whom God sets free is free indeed” (John 8:36 KJV). Let us exercise that freedom by living a holy life unto Christ. Let us stand on the Word of God which declares our freedom. Let us not live as victims, but rather let us live victoriously.  May the love of Christ strengthen us today, and may we forever keep in our hearts and minds that we have been liberated by the love of Jesus Christ.
