The Holy Spirit gives us freedom. Whom God sets free is free indeed. We are free to live, serve and love. No longer do we live in bondage. Our sins have been forgiven and the very hand of God has set us free. It is a blessing to know that there are no chains holding us! I would argue that invisible chains bind many people who have never experienced true freedom. They are without joy and peace, and their lives are without meaning and purpose. However, thank God today for those who have received the power of the Spirit that has set them free. II Corinthians 3:17 speaks of the Spirit that brings forth liberty.

“Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”

Paul’s idea of liberty is deep in his life. He knew firsthand what it meant to be bound in sin. Paul states that the Lord and the Spirit are one in nature. The Spirit gives freedom from sin and condemnation. He gives freedom to worship God. Paul is set free! Paul’s new nature in Christ, has given him the freedom from all his life’s chains. He is grateful to be free of sin, from God’s very hand. When you get a chance, read this entire chapter and be able to say that you are free. There are no longer chains holding you and you are free to follow the power of God, the love of God and the Spirit of God.
