FREE FROM SIN
I recently preached a sermon titled “The New You.” I believe, with all my heart, that God changes things in our lives when we begin to follow Him. New things happen that free us from sin. It does not mean that we do not sin, but it does mean that sin is no longer the ruler over us. We can overcome sin because of God’s power that lives within us. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. We have been liberated from the arms of death and have been set free. As a result, we can live lives that are full of God’s grace and power. We can overcome temptation because we have Jesus in our lives. He has set us free. Whom God sets free, is free indeed! We are free to live, free to love, free to forgive, and free from the penalty of sin. In Romans 6:14, we find these words:
“Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.”
From this scripture, we can see how Christ has set us free from the power of sin. Therefore, we should not allow sin to control the way we live. We should not give in to sinful desire, and we should not allow ourselves to be a part of something that is evil. Know that you have been set free by God’s grace, and value that freedom! When you get a chance, read this entire chapter, and know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are free from sin. Let us all live in a way that honors God!
