Guilt can imprison you.  I would argue strongly that many people are in chains because of living with guilt.  The guilt cripples them, and they are not able to move forward until they are released from it. Our sins have a way of causing us pain and shame and it causes us to miss our blessings.  We were not made to live in guilt and shame; God created us to be free. He forgave our sins and shortcomings.  Let me be clear: all of us have done some things in our lives that are not pleasing to God.  But thanks be to God that He has forgiven us! We can move forward with our lives! Others may never forgive us; some of us may even have a difficult time forgiving ourselves, but remember, when we seek forgiveness from God, it is granted! In John 3:17, we find these words:

God sent his son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the
world through him.

Jesus shares the wonderful news of God’s love for us. The Master said there is no judgment against anyone who believes in Him, but those who do not believe in Him have already been judged, for not believing in God’s one and only Son is the same as not living. He speaks of God’s love for the world. God sent His only Son so that whoever believed in Him would not perish but have eternal life. That frees us from guilt, and God said: Free is free indeed! All who believe in Him have been given eternal life.
If you are living with guilt today, know that you can live a brand-new, guilt-free life. All you need to do is ask God for forgiveness and your sins will be forgiven.
